1936 Never-Fail Plum Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups plain flour

  • ¾ cups sugar

  • ¾ cups mixed fruit

  • 1 teaspoon carb. of soda

  • 1 tablespoon treacle

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • pinch of salt

  • 1 cup of boiling water

  • 2 tablespoons milk

Method:

  1. Sift flour and salt then add sugar and mixed fruit.

  2. Dissolve butter in boiling water and add to dry ingredients with treacle

  3. Mix soda in milk and pour on mixture and mix well

  4. Tie in a cloth and boil for 2 ½ - 3 hours

  5. Serve with custard
